Verity Mod Doesn't Respond Fix

Use this page when Verity does not respond in Minecraft, does not talk, only says dots, answers once and then goes silent, or never changes into the expected monster form. The fix is different for Verity JE, Verity BE, PnTMC Bedrock, MCPE, and modpack routes.

Route map

What no response usually means

Installed route Likely failure layer First useful test Next page
Verity JE Java Groq, OpenRouter, Ollama, model access, quota, local service, or key setup One short typed prompt after the mod loads API connection fixes
Verity BE Behavior/resource pack activation, Beta APIs, cheats, connect command, or backend status Fresh Bedrock 26.30 world with only the selected add-on active Bedrock setup
PnTMC Verity - Bedrock Edition Wrong file row, inactive packs, distance, inventory state, wake phrase, or expected trigger Place Verity on the ground, stand near him, and send a short chat message PnTMC 3.2.0 check
MCPE or mobile app claim Wrong package type, APK instead of add-on, disabled packs, or old Minecraft build Import a matching MCADDON/MCPACK and verify packs are active MCPE route
VERITY.exe or Verity Pack Modpack profile assumptions, missing separate Verity file, bundled config, or launcher setup Read the modpack page and confirm whether the Verity file is included Modpack check

Main rule

Text first, voice second, download last

A no-response symptom is not a source verdict

When the character appears but does not answer, the file may still be the correct file. The problem can be in the AI provider, a local model, a Bedrock world option, a disabled behavior pack, a wake phrase, or voice output. Replacing the download before testing those layers can turn one setup problem into several source problems.

Start with the smallest possible test. Load the exact project in a clean profile or clean world. Send one short typed message. Wait for a complete response. If text works, the base route is alive and the next layer is voice, audio output, microphone permission, or language support. If text does not work, fix provider, pack, command, or route identity before opening a mirror.

Do not mix Java and Bedrock instructions

Java instructions about Groq, OpenRouter, Ollama, loaders, and JAR dependencies do not repair a Bedrock MCADDON world. Bedrock instructions about Beta APIs, behavior packs, resource packs, cheats, wake phrases, and inventory state do not repair a Java AI provider. If a tutorial does not name the same edition and Project ID as your file, treat it as context rather than an exact fix.

The same caution applies to videos. A video may show an edited scene, a private setup, a different add-on, or a modpack profile. Use the video to understand what the creator did, then check the public project page to see what your route actually supports today.

Java

Fix Verity JE not responding

Provider errors can look like silence

Verity JE uses an AI provider route after the mod itself loads. If the provider rejects the key, rate limits the account, cannot find the model, or cannot reach a local Ollama service, the game can feel like Verity is broken even though the JAR and loader are correct. Look for status 401, 403, 404, 429, provider 5xx errors, blank output, or local connection refused messages.

Do not paste API keys into public comments, screenshots, random forms, or download pages. Use the provider dashboard or local service that the project instructions name. After changing a key or model, restart the game and test one short prompt before testing voice, long roleplay, or multiplayer.

If text works but voice does not

Then the no-response problem is narrower. Check the installed talk key or control, microphone permission, output device, speech-to-text language expectation, voice dependency, and server permissions. Do not swap to a different Verity Mod file when typed text already proves the AI route can answer.

If the answer appears in chat but no audio plays, open the voice guide. If nothing appears in chat and the log shows a provider status, open the API guide. If the game crashes before the first prompt, return to the Java loader and dependency checks.

Bedrock and MCPE

Fix Verity not replying on Bedrock

World settings matter as much as the file

Bedrock add-ons are not finished after import. The behavior pack and resource pack must be active in the world. Some scripts also require Beta APIs, cheats, command permissions, or a project-specific connect step. If Verity appears but only says dots, the character layer may be loaded while the response layer is still blocked.

Create a new test world with no extra add-ons. Activate only the relevant packs. Match the current Minecraft build. Restart Minecraft after changing experiments. If the clean world works, the old world, extra pack, or server environment is the problem. If the clean world fails, check the exact file row and project instructions again.

PnTMC has its own interaction rules

For the PnTMC route, public player questions often describe chat doing nothing or the expected monster form never happening. First confirm that you installed the current 3.2.0 family for the right Bedrock build. Then test the documented state: chat while Verity is on the ground, use Hey Verity when he is in inventory, stay nearby if the route requires distance, and avoid testing inside a heavily modified world.

A missing monster form is not the same as a failed download. It can be a trigger expectation, a state issue, an unsupported route, or a video feature that is not exposed the way players expect. Prove the current PnTMC file and setup before searching for another package.

Checklist

One-pass no-response checklist

1 Route

Write down edition and Project ID

Java, Bedrock, MCPE, PnTMC, VERITY.exe, and Verity Pack do not share one fix path. A copied filename or video title is not enough.

2 Baseline

Use a clean profile or clean world

Remove unrelated mods, packs, shaders, servers, and old world settings from the first test.

3 Text

Send one short typed prompt

Text tells you whether the response layer works before microphone, sound, or voice settings add noise.

4 Layer

Fix the layer that fails

Provider status codes go to API fixes. Bedrock pack state goes to world setup. Silent audio goes to voice fixes. Old links go to source checks.

FAQ

Verity not responding questions

Why doesn't Verity respond after I installed the mod?

First match the route. Java usually needs provider setup. Bedrock usually needs active packs, required experiments, and the right chat or wake behavior. A correct file can still be silent if those layers are incomplete.

Why does Verity only say dots?

Dots mean the visible character or dialogue layer appeared but the response layer did not finish. Check Bedrock Beta APIs, connect instructions, backend notes, clean-world state, or Java provider logs before replacing the download.

Should I download another Verity file if it does not talk?

Not first. If the route is traceable and the file matches your edition, debug setup before opening a mirror. Use another file only when your current file is wrong edition, stale, removed, or not from a maintainer-controlled page.

What if Verity responds in text but not voice?

Move to voice troubleshooting. Text proves the response layer can answer. Next check talk key, microphone permission, output device, language support, voice dependency, and server rules.
